Just within a day after getting selected in the Indian Test squad as one of the reserves players for the maiden ICC World Test Championship Final 2021 and the subsequent series against England, Prasidh Krishna has reduced his chances of taking the flight to the UK. The Karnataka pacer tested positive with coronavirus, and the chances of him flying to England will depend on the fitness which will be assessed before the team leaves.

In case he fails to appear, the Indian selection committee might have to replace him with another fast bowler. In the IPL 2021, Prasidh Krishna turned up for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), captained by 2019 World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan. Here are the 3 players who can replace the youngster as standby player in the WTC Final squad:

#1 Ishan Porel

Isha Porel came to the limelight during the 2018 U-19 World Cup under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw. However, he hasn’t been able to make a name for himself since then unlike his teammates, like Shaw, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi, Riyan Parag, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Despite being with the Punjab Kings set up for the past two seasons, the 22-year-old pacer is yet to make his IPL debut. However, his domestic records have been quite good as he has scalped 61 wickets in 22 games at an average of 25.75.

In List A cricket, he has taken 47 scalps in 30 matches and also has 29 T20 wickets in 19 games. On top of this, he was also one of the alternative or reserve bowlers for the tour of Australia late last year. Sadly, he came back to India due to an injury.
