IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) vs Gujarat Lions (GL) on May 1, 2017
Probably, it is the best IPL match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune). RPS sent Gujarat to bat first after winning the toss, where Gujarat was bowled out for 161 runs in 19.5 overs. While the openers Ishan Kishan (31 runs) and Brendon McCullum (45 runs) provided a good start, the other batsmen failed to carry that innings. Only Dinesh Karthik (29 runs) was the other man to cross 20-run mark.
Among the RPS bowers, Jaydev Unadkat (3/29) and Imran Tahir (3/27) claimed three wickets each.
In reply, RPS suffered a top-order batting collapse as they were once struggling on 42/4. Ben Stokes and MS Dhoni took the responsibilities to construct that innings. While Dhoni was just sticking at the wicket, Stokes was continuously adding runs on the board. After completing half-century in 38 balls, Stokes geared up.
After an important 76-runs partnership for the fifth wicket, MS Dhoni was dismissed but Stokes continued his innings. The English man completed a superb century in 61 balls and secured a remarkable victory for RPS by 5 wickets with the last ball to spare. The Player of the match Stokes remained unbeaten on 103 runs off 63 balls.
