After winning the first two matches in the IPL 2018, the Chennai Super Kings fans in Chennai have to face a bitter news. Due to the controversy surrounding Cauvery and the dispute between the governments, IPL governing council has finally decided to shift all the IPL games from Chennai Super Kings from the Chepauk Stadium.
The stadium is popularly known as the ‘Lion’s Den’ because of the mighty impressive record that the yellow jersey team has at the home ground. They started off victoriously yesterday with the last over win against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, outside the ground, there were lots of protests which later turned violent.

The first match went through largely unharmed but the IPL governing council is not willing to take any further risks. It has announced that all future home matches of CSK will be played at a different venue. Here is the list of probable cricket stadiums which may get to the host Dhoni and Co.
- YSR Reddy Cricket Stadium, Vizag
The geographical proximity of the venue with Chennai means the YSR Reddy Stadium at Vishakhapattanam is the front-runner for hosting CSK home games. The stadium is well equipped with a seating capacity of 35,000 spectators. It has floodlights and very good water drainage facilities.
Historically, the stadium has seen the IPL actions before also. Due to water scarcity in Maharashtra during the IPL 2016 season, Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants played 3 games each at this stadium. Visakhapatnam served as a home venue for both the teams. It will be the major contender this time around also.
2. Trivandrum International Stadium, Trivandrum
The second closest contenders for hosting CSK games is the Trivandrum stadium which hosted one T20I match between India and New Zealand last year. The Sports Hub, Trivandrum, commonly known as Trivandrum International Stadium or Greenfield Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Kerala, used mainly for association football and cricket.
Although no IPL match has been hosted here, The IPL governing council is considering this as an option since the Stadium is endowed with state-of-the-art facilities.
