CVC Capital Will Be Getting Green Signal From BCCI For The Ahmedabad Franchise

CVC Capital will soon be getting a clean chit by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which will help them to own the Ahmedabad franchise from the upcoming 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The company had come under the scanner after reports emerged of its alleged ties to betting companies after they finally won the Ahmedabad franchise in the auction that was held in Dubai in October.

The three-member committee that was set up by the BCCI to investigate the links and now they have given the company a clean chit and the board is now set to give it a ‘Letter of Intent’ soon, according to sources.

CVC was one of two companies to have won bids to own the two new franchises that will play in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. While its bid of INR 5625 crore helped them win the Ahmedabad franchise, the RPSG Group won the Lucknow franchise for a whopping bid of INR 7090 crore.

At the conclusion of the doctor, BCCI had informed, “The new franchises will participate in IPL from 2022 season onwards subject to the bidders completing the post-bid formalities as specified in the ITT document. The IPL 2022 season will comprise ten teams and will have 74 matches, wherein each team will play 7 home and 7 away matches.”

Before 2022, the 2010 edition of the IPL also featured 10 teams, with Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala joining the tournament before both franchises were terminated. A lot of Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming mega-auction of the IPL 2022 as a lot of players will be seen going under the hammer with the two new franchises yet to announce their list of marque players.
