The entertaining all-rounder from Caribbean Dwayne Bravo is back to don the yellow jersey once again for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and it’s time for ‘Champion’ dance at Chepauk all over again. Even, he is excited to be back playing under MS Dhoni as he also expressed the delight of the fact that West Indies had managed to qualify for the 2019 50-overs World Cup. In a recent interview with Cricbuzz, the Trinidadian said, “I honestly believe they deserve to be there despite what’s going on in West Indies cricket. I love to see West Indies compete amongst the best.”
Talking about the preparations for the upcoming seasons of the IPL, Dwayne said, “Coming to back to Chennai is like a homecoming for me. I’m thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. I didn’t play any cricket after the Big Bash and was resting. I wanted to ensure that I prepare myself mentally and physically so that I can come and give my best for the city and franchise. I know the people in Chennai suffered for the last two years (without CSK). We are happy that most of us are back. I’m looking forward to the tournament.”

Expressing the joy of Windies getting qualified for the ICC World Cup 2019, Bravo said, “First of all, congrats to the team and I’m happy for the guys. No team or country is guaranteed of anything. But at the same time, I’m happy that West Indies have made it. It’s a young team and I wish them all the best. I honestly believe they deserve to be there despite what’s going on in West Indies cricket. I love to see West Indies compete amongst the best and we always do well in World Cups. Hopefully, I will play the World Cup as well.”
Since the inception of IPL, the Windies cricketers have played a crucial role in making the cash-rich league what it is today. Talking on the same line, Bravo said, “I think T20 cricket has developed a lot of cricketers fancies ourselves in the shortest format of the game. T20 is about flair and entertainment and that is what attract the fans to the stadium. Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy, myself – all of us play the game in the right spirit with flair and attitude.”

He further added, “We are natural entertainers. At the same time, we like to win tournaments. For me, every T20 league that I take part in has been successful. We also have two T20 World Cup wins. It’s not about just playing in tournaments but it’s about winning them. For us, as West Indian players, our names go a long way and we enjoy playing in these competitions. It’s more so for our fans.”
Describing love for CSK, Dwayne said that the Chennai based franchise is not just a team but it’s a family, he said, “CSK is not just a cricket team, it’s like a family. Apart from playing in the IPL, players actually keep in touch with each other. The management also keeps in touch with players. Most of my fan following is from India and mostly from Chennai. I can feel the love and appreciation from the fans. It’s a special team. To play under MS (Dhoni) is a special moment for any player. For me personally, CSK have done a lot. I just enjoy representing the yellow army.”
