The five-time champions were knocked out after a crushing defeat in Qualifier 2 against the Punjab Kings. Despite posting a challenging 204 on the board, they were undone by a sensational innings from PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer, who powered his team into their second IPL final.

Mumbai had a sluggish start to their campaign, managing just one win in their first four matches. However, the experienced core of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya rallied together to spark a remarkable six-game winning streak.

The resurgence not only lifted them into the playoffs but also reignited hopes of a sixth title. Rohit himself had a mixed season. After a slow start, he bounced back with a sublime unbeaten 76 against Chennai Super Kings and followed it up with another fluent fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

His standout performance came in the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans, where he smashed 81 off just 50 balls, earning Player of the Match honours and guiding MI to a mammoth 228/5. However, in Qualifier 2, Rohit couldn’t replicate that form. After getting a life early when Azmatullah Omarzai dropped a difficult catch, he fell for just 4.
