In a match already filled with drama, big runs, and memorable performances, Rishabh Pant added another chapter to the Edgbaston epic by rewriting the record books on Day 4 of the second Test between India and England. With a towering six off Josh Tongue early in his innings, Pant overtook Ben Stokes to become the visiting batter with the most sixes in a single country in Test cricket.

Pant, who has always been known for his fearless brand of batting, brought up his 22nd six in England—eclipsing Stokes’ tally of 21 sixes in South Africa. The left-hander’s aggression came as no surprise to those familiar with his playing style. On just the third and fourth balls of his innings, he sent a clear message.

First, a flick through the leg side for four, and then a stunning advance down the pitch to deposit Tongue over long-off for six. Typical Pant—daring and defiant. In the next over of Tongues, Rishabh Pant sweeped him again for a six over fine leg, to reach the tally of 23 sixes in England.
Typical, #RishabhPant! 🔥

At the other end, Shubman Gill continued to anchor India’s innings, building on his first-innings double century and guiding India toward a formidable total. The visitors had ended Day 3 with a healthy 244-run lead, thanks to Mohammed Siraj’s fiery 6-wicket haul and solid contributions from the top order.

However, England haven’t given up just yet. Overcast skies and a hint of rain kept the bowlers interested, with swing on offer for the pacers. The likes of Tongue and Anderson found movement, asking tough questions of India’s batters in the morning session.
With Pant at the crease and Gill still composed, India look set to pile more pressure on the hosts. If the rain stays away, this Test could have another thrilling twist before stumps on Day 4.
