Lucknow Super Giants’ innings in IPL 2026 had a moment of pure power when Mitchell Marsh unleashed a monstrous six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The shot, which came in the third over, sailed over deep mid-wicket and landed on the stadium roof, measuring a staggering 102 metres.

It was a short knuckleball from Bhuvneshwar, but Marsh read it early, stayed back, and generated immense power to send it into the stands — a reminder of his destructive ability at the top. Despite that eye-catching strike, Marsh’s IPL 2026 campaign has been far from consistent.

After a stellar 2025 season where he piled up over 600 runs at an impressive strike rate, expectations were high. However, scores of 35, 14, 15, and 11 in his previous outings reflected a dip in form. This innings showed glimpses of a comeback, something Lucknow desperately needs from their experienced overseas core.

The match, however, tilted in favour of Royal Challengers Bengaluru fairly early. Young pacer Rasikh Salam Dar removed Aiden Markram cheaply, while skipper Rishabh Pant was forced to retire hurt after taking a blow off Josh Hazlewood. Those setbacks left Lucknow Super Giants struggling to build momentum.

Coming into the contest, RCB were riding high on confidence, sitting comfortably in the top half of the points table after a solid win over the Mumbai Indians. In contrast, LSG have been inconsistent, managing just two wins so far and still searching for the right balance in their batting lineup.
While Marsh’s towering six lit up the stadium, LSG will need far more sustained contributions if they are to challenge stronger, in-form sides like RCB as the tournament progresses.
