Chennai Super Kings produced a moment of brilliance in the field as Sarfaraz Khan pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Naman Dhir during their IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 2. Stationed at extra cover, Sarfaraz reacted sharply, moving swiftly to his left before launching into a full-stretch dive.

He completed the catch cleanly with both hands as he fell, showcasing exceptional awareness and athleticism. The dismissal came at a crucial juncture in the 17th over, cutting short what had been a well-constructed innings from Dhir. The MI batter departed for a fluent 57 off 37 balls, an effort that included three sixes and four boundaries.

The wicket was set up cleverly by Jamie Overton, who deceived Dhir with a well-disguised slower delivery. After being struck for a six on the previous ball, Overton adjusted his pace with an off-cutter that gripped the surface. Dhir attempted to manufacture room for another big shot but mistimed it, offering Sarfaraz the opportunity to complete a highlight-reel catch.

Despite the setback, Dhir’s knock played a key role in helping MI post a competitive 159/7. Contributions from Ryan Rickelton (37) and Suryakumar Yadav (21) provided useful support, while skipper Hardik Pandya added a late cameo.

With both teams fighting to stay alive in the playoff race, every moment—like Sarfaraz’s stunning catch—could prove decisive.
