Chennai Super Kings have brought in Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for the injured uncapped player Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of IPL 2026. The five-time champions signed the promising youngster for ₹30 lakh as they continue their push for a playoff spot in the ongoing season.
Noronha arrives at CSK after an impressive run in domestic cricket. The 24-year-old recently won the prestigious MA Chidambaram Trophy at the NAMAN Awards after finishing as the highest run-scorer in the 2024-25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy. His consistent performances with the bat earned him recognition across domestic circuits and eventually a place in Karnataka’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In his latest appearance during the 2025 domestic season, Noronha showcased his all-round ability with a quickfire 34 off 21 balls against Tripura and also picked up a wicket, highlighting the versatility CSK values highly in pressure situations.

The replacement comes after Ramakrishna Ghosh suffered a right foot injury during Chennai’s clash against the Mumbai Indians on May 3. Ironically, the match marked Ghosh’s long-awaited IPL debut, and the youngster made an immediate impression.

Bowling in a high-pressure game, Ghosh returned figures of 1/24 from three overs and claimed the crucial wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, who had started aggressively with 21 runs off just 12 deliveries.
Despite the setback, CSK’s season remains alive after a strong turnaround in recent weeks. After losing three of their opening matches, Chennai bounced back brilliantly with six wins in their last eight games to re-enter the playoff race.

The Super Kings now face crucial fixtures against Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans in the final stretch of the league stage.
