Chennai Super Kings have announced South African all-rounder Dian Forrester as the replacement for injured England cricketer Jamie Overton for the remainder of IPL 2026. The franchise signed Forrester for INR 75 lakh after Overton was ruled out with a right thigh injury. The 24-year-old Forrester recently broke into international cricket, making his debut for South Africa national cricket team against New Zealand national cricket team in March 2026.

Since then, he has featured in five international matches and scored 83 runs, earning recognition as an exciting pace-bowling all-rounder. This marks CSK’s second replacement signing in less than 48 hours. Earlier this week, the five-time IPL champions also brought in Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh, who suffered a season-ending foot fracture shortly after making his IPL debut.
Overton’s injury reportedly occurred ahead of Chennai’s crucial clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium on May 15. According to the franchise’s official update, the England all-rounder has returned to the United Kingdom for further medical evaluation and treatment.

Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK currently sit fifth in the standings with 12 points from six wins. The franchise is now likely to require victories in all three of their remaining league matches to maximise their chances of securing a playoff berth.
With pressure mounting during the business end of the season, CSK will hope Forrester can quickly adapt and provide valuable balance to the squad as they attempt another late surge toward the top four.
