The match had already delivered plenty of drama before tensions boiled over. After the contest ended in a tie, officials decided to settle the outcome with a Super Over. The decision itself sparked debate, with reports suggesting uncertainty about whether fading light would allow the one-over eliminator to take place. However, after discussions involving players and match officials, the Super Over went ahead.

Sri Lanka A made the most of the opportunity and gained the upper hand in the tiebreaker. Chasing a target of 17 runs, India A sent out Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and all-rounder Suryansh Shedge to complete the task. However, spinner Kugathas Mathulan held his nerve brilliantly, restricting the pair to just 9 runs and sealing a memorable victory for the hosts. The drama did not end there.

As Sooryavanshi walked off the field following the defeat, emotions appeared to spill over. According to reports, Sri Lankan fielder Vishen Halambage allegedly directed comments toward the young Indian batter. The exchange reportedly triggered an angry reaction from Sooryavanshi, who turned back and confronted the player.

The situation escalated quickly before Sri Lankan players, including experienced wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella, stepped in to separate the two and prevent the confrontation from worsening. The incident has since become one of the major talking points from the match.

While the International Cricket Council does not directly oversee disciplinary matters in unofficial ‘A’ team fixtures, reports suggest the matter could still be reviewed internally. It has also been claimed that discussions took place within the Sri Lanka A camp, with the possibility of an apology being offered to the Indian team.
