India pacer Prasidh Krishna could miss the start of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury suffered during the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. According to a report by The Times of India, Prasidh’s left hamstring injury is expected to take at least three weeks to heal. The pacer could then require another week before he is ready to return to full-intensity bowling, meaning his availability for the New Zealand ODIs remains uncertain.

Prasidh sustained the injury during the 31st over of West Indies’ innings in the Guwahati ODI. He had bowled only five overs before leaving the field and was subsequently ruled out of the third ODI in New Chandigarh.
The 29-year-old has now reportedly checked into the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where his rehabilitation will be closely monitored. While he is expected to regain full fitness in approximately three weeks, his return to competitive cricket could take longer.

This timeline could create a selection headache for India ahead of the New Zealand series. Even if Prasidh resumes bowling at full intensity, the team management may not want to rush him straight into international cricket without sufficient match preparation.
India will also have to carefully manage its fast-bowling resources because several pacers selected for the upcoming Test series could be rested for the final two ODIs against New Zealand.
Prasidh Krishna racing against time for New Zealand ODIs. Should be okay in about 3-4 weeks. Last two ODIs and Tests look a realistic shot, for now.

Speaking after India’s third ODI against West Indies, captain Shubman Gill admitted that injuries and a packed schedule have made it difficult for the team to field its preferred bowling combination.
“I would say it has been unfortunate, you know, with the injuries and with the scheduling, with the other matches being around. It has been a little bit unfortunate that we haven’t been able to play the bowling lineup that we would like to,” Gill said.

Gill also stressed that India now has limited time for experimentation as the team looks ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup. “The combination that we want to play, hopefully, we get all the players available from the next series. The combination that we would like to play in the World Cup, we want to start playing with that combination,” he added.
