On Tuesday night, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a thrilling defeat against the two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2018 at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai).

CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss. With the help of late knock from Carlos Brathwaite (43* runs off 29 balls), struggling SRH managed to put 139/7 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

In reply, CSK suffered a major batting collapse but the opener Faf du Plessis’ responsible knock helped them to snatch a dramatic victory by 2 wickets with 5 balls to spare. CSK chased down that target successfully in 19.1 overs after losing 8 wickets.

Now, we will briefly talk about some important reasons for SRH’s defeat in this game.

Major batting failure

SRH suffered a major batting failure in their innings. SRH opener Shikhar Dhawan (0) lost his wicket on the very first ball of the game. Since then, their struggle remained to continue in that innings as the Hyderabad franchise was losing their wickets in regular interval. At one stage, they were on 88/6.
