In the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2019, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has amassed 162 runs from five games at a dismal average of 32.40 with the strike rate of 126.56. He is one of the greatest batsmen in International Cricket right now but his form in the IPL is not that much good. However, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has shared Kohli’s weakness against spin bowling.

Kohli led RCB have lost five consecutive matches and placed at the bottom of the points table in this season. The side has great players like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers etc. but they have never won any IPL title since it’s beginning in 2008.

However, Kohli has been facing problems against the spinners several times in International Cricket. His weakness, meanwhile, has been transferred to the T20 league as well. However, the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders’ was seen a great batting from both Kohli and AB de Villiers but bowlers failed to restrict KKR’s star batsman Andre Russell and KKR won the game convincingly with 5 balls to spare.

While talking about Kohli’s batting, former batsman and current SRH mentor, VVS Laxman shared his thought with India Today.

“Well, I think there are some chinks because it is not the first time they’ve (spinners) got him, especially with the googlies. I remember last year too Mujeeb, Zampa and Markande got Virat out. In fact, Shreyas got his wicket before as well. I am sure that is something which Virat will be mindful of. Any pattern that Virat gets out in, he works quite hard on it,” said Laxman.

“The biggest example of that is the England series. He had a miserable series there in 2013 but the way he bounced back, scoring close to 600 runs on last tour, shows what kind of player he is. He is a special player and I am sure he will work this out as well,” the veteran batsman further added.
