IPL 2019: Miller Praises The All-around Abilities Of Ashwin

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman David Miller heaped praise on skipper Ravichandran Ashwin for his all-around abilities, saying their captain has been a huge asset for the team. Ashwin and opener KL Rahul played crucial roles as KXIP produced an all-around performance to script a comfortable 12-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) to bring its campaign back on track.

Ashwin smashed 17 runs off the four balls before registering the figures of 2/24 his crucial wickets help KXIP bounced back after successive losses in the last two matches to record its fifth win the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). During the post-match press conference, Miller said, “(Skipper) Ashwin has contributed extremely well with bat and bowl.”

The South African said that it is not just with his bowling, but Ashwin has also chipped in with useful contributions with the bat putting the team in good positions.

Miller further added, “His bowling has been extremely good. His economy rate has been really low and he’s got wickets as well. He has been a huge asset in our bowling department and again tonight he bowled really well and it was great performance leading from the front.”

The South African southpaw said that it was an overall good team performance as contributions came in from all the three departments of the game. KXIP players Moises Henriques and Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked up injuries, giving their team a minor some matters of concern in the second half of the IPL.

While Henriques injured himself during the warm-up before the game against Rajasthan Royals, Mujeeb hurt his shoulder in the match.

Asked when you see a player getting injured just before the World Cup, does it affect a player mentally, Miller replied, “Unfortunately, it is part of the game if you are going to get injured, you don’t want to see someone get injured. I don’t know how Moises is at the moment. We will have to wait and see and hope he recovers quickly because there are still some important games coming up in IPL.”
