Delhi Capitals have been doing wonders in this season of Indian Premier League (IPL). They are currently at the top of the table with 14 points; whereas their opener Shikhar Dhawan has been in a formidable form. Dhawan has returned to Delhi from Hyderabad and doing pretty well as an opener. He has already hit four half-centuries in the ongoing season and has the highest score of unbeaten 97. He is currently at fourth place with 401 runs in 11 matches at an average of 40 and strike-rate of 137 in the highest run-getters’ list.

Dhawan once again played a blistering inning against Rajasthan Royals on Monday; where he scored 54 off 27 for a winning cause and helped his team to reach one step closer to the playoffs, claiming 14 points. However, after his inning, he was asked about his formidable form which he had a funny answer. he said that he has turned into a vegetarian and that might help him in his batting.

“I have become a vegetarian, so mostly vegetable stuff (laughs). I have changed my mindset from the previous games and it’s been going good for me. I have been able to give good starts to my team and I am happy. I would say from the Bangalore game, I changed my mindset. I realised that I needed to play more aggressively,” Dhawan said after the completion of the game.

Apart from the 2009 IPL season, Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most consistent players in the IPL. The left-handed opener has always scored more than 300 runs in every IPL season whereas the best was the 2010 edition where he scored 569 runs at an average of 40.64. He has given stability in Delhi’s opening slot which proved successful for them. Most of Delhi’s win came on the back of his performances and it is expected that he will provide with some great knocks in the future as well.
