Cricket South Africa (CSA) is planning to organize their domestic T20 competition in the vacant window of T20 Global League, which got postponed earlier this week. Six-team based T20 competition, Ram Slam T20 was earlier scheduled to take place in 2018 from March 14 until April 15. Though, the board hasn’t officially announced this news.
The much-awaited T20 Global League was all set to kick off on November 3, but CSA was facing several crises regarding the hostage. Firstly, they were about to lose 25 million and the broadcast deal was yet to finalize. Meanwhile, the board has made a teleconference with the franchise owners and confirmed about hosting this season earlier.
This season of Ram Slam can be a big success as all national players will be available including big names like AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla etc. Also, the board will not issue any No Objection Certificate (NOC) during this period for foreign T20 leagues. Bangladesh Premier League will take place spontaneously. Board is in no mood to organize any International series in this period as well.
A source from the board has revealed news regarding this T20 competition while talking to ESPN Cricinfo and said “If there is an international tour in that time, only 12 or so guys will be playing. What about the rest of the players? They can’t sit around for six weeks and not do anything.”
Reportedly, CSA was looking to host Pakistan or West Indies but the acting CEO Thabang Moroe cleared that the board is not willing to enter into any such endeavor which will cost them money. Proteas is set to host India and Australia in the ongoing mega home season from January.
