Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter, Ajinkya Rahane has suffered a serious Grade III hamstring injury and because of that, he will be missing competitive cricket and he will also be expected to miss the India tour of England in June-July. He has already lost his place in the India Test XI, but the latest setback could even rule him out for a place in the touring party. The Indian team, expected to be selected in a week’s time, will leave for England around June 16.
Ajinkya Rahane would thus not be available for selection for KKR’s last league stage game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, May 18. He is said to have suffered a Grade III injury and would leave the KKR bubble on Monday. He suffered the injury during KKR’s last game, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, on May 14 and was not seen fielding during the game at MCA Stadium in Pune.

As per the reports in Cricbuzz, BCCI said he will be reporting at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore where he may need more than four weeks of rehab. In seven matches this IPL, Rahane had amassed 133 runs, not exactly the number he would be pleased with.
As per the report, the team for the tour is expected to be selected in a week’s time and Rahane is unlikely to be named in the squad. The injury means Rahane’s stint in the ongoing Indian Premier League has ended too. He was plying his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022.
