West Indies have added batter-wicketkeeper Amir Jangoo to their T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against India. Jangoo was initially left out of the squad but has now been included as cover for Jewel Andrew, who suffered a finger injury during the third ODI in New Chandigarh.

Jangoo has been in impressive form during the ongoing India tour. The 29-year-old scored a century in the second ODI against India before contributing 67 runs off 56 balls in the third match. Batting at No. 3, he played an important role in West Indies’ successful chase of 352, although India eventually lost the match by five wickets.
Andrew sustained the injury while attempting to take a catch from Naman Dhir during the third ODI on October 3. The 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was taken to a local hospital for scans, which confirmed that there was no fracture. However, he did not return to the field to bat during West Indies’ record chase.

Cricket West Indies confirmed that Jangoo has been added to the squad as cover for the wicketkeeping position while Andrew continues to be monitored by the team’s medical staff.
Jangoo has already represented West Indies in seven T20Is, scoring 163 runs in seven innings at an average of 32.60 and a strike rate of 120.74. His recent form could make him a useful option for the visitors during the five-match series.
