Anshul Kamboj has been released from the India A squad midway through the ongoing second unofficial Test against Australia A in Puducherry after earning a call-up to the senior India team. The Haryana all-rounder has been added to India’s ODI squad as a replacement for injured fast bowler Prasidh Krishna.

Prasidh suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. The pacer bowled only five overs before leaving the field and did not return to complete his spell. He finished with figures of 1/45 in a high-scoring contest.
Prasidh bowled four overs during his opening spell before returning for the 31st over. However, he could deliver only one over in his second spell before being forced off the field. With Prasidh unable to continue, Naman Dhir was required to shoulder additional bowling responsibility and eventually completed 6.1 overs.

According to Cricbuzz, Prasidh is expected to travel to Bengaluru rather than rejoin the Indian team. He will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence, where his hamstring injury will be assessed. His availability for the third ODI will depend on the extent of the injury and the subsequent medical assessment. Meanwhile, Kamboj’s call-up has brought an abrupt change to his India A assignment. The 25-year-old was part of the playing XI for the second unofficial Test against Australia A, which began in Puducherry on September 30.
Kamboj had already made a significant contribution with the ball in the first innings. He claimed 3/34 from 17.3 overs as Australia A were bowled out for 358. However, after receiving the call from the senior team, Kamboj left the India A camp while the match was still underway. According to Sportstar, Praful Hinge subsequently replaced him in the India A playing XI.

Kamboj bowled only two overs before lunch during Australia A’s second innings on Thursday before leaving the venue and boarding the team bus. His departure was therefore not related to his performance in the match but was instead prompted by his elevation to the senior India squad.
The call-up gives Kamboj an opportunity to be part of the national setup with India already holding an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The third ODI is scheduled to be played in Chandigarh on October 3.
