Arjun Tendulkar finally got his much-awaited IPL 2026 opportunity, and the young left-arm pacer made an immediate impact for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday. The son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar showed composure under pressure and picked up his maiden wicket of the season with a superb yorker to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh.

Playing his first match for LSG after warming the bench for the entire season, Arjun delivered one of the standout moments of the game during the 15th over of Punjab’s chase. Bowling with PBKS cruising towards the 197-run target, the 26-year-old nailed a perfect yorker that trapped Prabhsimran Singh plumb in front of the stumps. The Punjab opener had already done major damage with a blazing innings and looked set to take the game away completely before Arjun struck.
Interestingly, Arjun chose not to celebrate wildly despite claiming an important wicket. With LSG struggling to defend their total, the youngster simply exchanged a few calm high-fives with teammates before returning to his mark, a gesture that reflected maturity beyond his experience.

Earlier in the innings, Arjun had almost removed Prabhsimran in his very first over. The PBKS batter gloved a short delivery behind the stumps, but LSG captain Rishabh Pant failed to hold onto a straightforward catch. It proved costly as Prabhsimran went on to punish the Lucknow bowlers during the middle overs.

Despite the dropped opportunity, Arjun remained disciplined with the ball and ended with respectable figures of 1/36 in his four overs. He was among the better performers in an otherwise disappointing outing for Lucknow. The left-arm pacer also contributed briefly with the bat, scoring five runs off five deliveries late in the innings.

IPL 2026 marked a major transition in Arjun Tendulkar’s career after he moved from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the auction. It was the first time he represented a franchise other than Mumbai, where his father spent six memorable IPL seasons.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings kept their playoff hopes alive with a crucial win. Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a magnificent unbeaten century as PBKS ended their six-match losing streak and moved to 15 points in the IPL 2026 standings.
