Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be out for redemption when they face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 30 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The five-time champions were stunned earlier this season when PBKS handed them an 18-run defeat at Mullanpur. It was a memorable game for young Priyansh Arya, who lit up the contest with a breathtaking 103 off just 42 deliveries, setting up a commanding total for Punjab.

As the teams prepare for the reverse fixture, PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh offered a refreshing perspective on his approach to bowling. In a candid interview with Star Sports, the left-arm quick said he doesn’t target specific batters but instead focuses on fulfilling whatever role the team needs from him — be it taking wickets or defending runs in pressure situations.

“There’s no particular batter I aim to dismiss,” Arshdeep Singh said. “Sometimes, the situation demands defending 10 runs — that becomes my goal. It doesn’t matter whether the batter gets out or not; what matters is that the team wins. I just try to take as many wickets as I can and stop the run flow when the team requires it.”

His team-first attitude has become a hallmark of the PBKS campaign this season, and Arshdeep will be key to their hopes in Chennai, especially on a surface where CSK have historically been dominant.

Currently, Punjab Kings are placed fifth on the points table and remain firmly in the playoff race with five matches still to play. A win in Chennai would be a huge boost to their aspirations.
On the other hand, CSK are in unfamiliar territory near the bottom of the standings. With only a mathematical chance left to qualify, MS Dhoni’s men will be hoping to give their home fans something to cheer about — and perhaps spark a late-season turnaround.
