Ashwin is the premier Indian bowler

There was a talk that Indian Off Spinner R. Ashwin could play county cricket this season. In the recent squad announced, he has been rested from the limited over games which prove his presence in the county season as soon as possible.

He could be available for Worcestershire’s match against Gloucestershire starting on August 28. According to ESPN reports, Worcestershire has shown keen interest on the Indian all rounder.

Ishant Sharma too will play for Warwickshire. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is also in talks with the counties, but it as yet unclear which team he will represent. Pujara will continue playing for Nottinghamshire, whom he signed up for at the start of the season. Ashwin could come up against Cheteshwar Pujara, in his second match as Worcestershire take on Nottinghamshire starting on September 5.

This is the first time Ashwin will be playing county cricket. The last time India toured England for a Test series, he only played in two tests. India also has a test series scheduled in England in 2018. This will surely help him to get back to his skills with the ball.

India’s next assignment after the Sri Lanka tour is the five ODIs against Australia starting on September 17. If Ashwin is selected for those matches, he might play only two matches in England. If he is not included in the squad he will play all the matches in county till the end!
