BCCI Crosses 5 Million Followers On Twitter!

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently crossed the mark of 5 million followers on Twitter and celebrated the incident in style. They tweeted a GIF image of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Former Indian captain MS Dhoni, Manish Pandey and Hardik Pandey overjoyed about the achievement.

When it comes to international cricket boards on Twitter, after BCCI, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) have the most number of followers on Twitter.

1. BCCI (5 million followers)

The Indian Cricket Board has come a long way on the basis of Twitter followers. Formed in 1928, it is a group of various State Boards of association. BCCI’s rewards include the triumphs in the World Cup of 1983, 2011 and T20 WC of 2007. Presently, India is the No. 1 ranking team in Tests as well. As of now, BCCI is the capital of global cricket.

2. BCB (1.55 million followers)

Bangladesh cricket fans have a somewhat similar passion to that of the Indian cricket fans. The Tigers have has shown tremendous improvement in the last few years in all formats of the game especially in ODIs. They have performed exceptionally well in Champions Trophy 2017 and World Cup 2015 as the Bangladeshis reached the quarter-finals and the semi-finals of the competitions respectively. Team India outclassed them on both the occasions.

3. CSA (864k followers)

South African Cricket has produced some of the finest cricketers like Herschelle Gibbs, Allan Donald, Jacques Kallis and Ab de Villiers. CSA still is placed at the third place in the list of followers on Twitter. They would surely be aiming of clinching the 2019 World Cup in England and put an end to the long-time tag of chokers.

4. CA (814k followers)

Australia has always been the team to beat for almost a few decades now. After the world beating side of West Indies, Australia’s dominance story is so huge that they have managed to be triumphant in last four of the five World Cups organized. They firmly hold the fourth position with 864k followers on Twitter.

5. PCB (746k followers)

The most controversial cricket board of all times, heading yet another cricket frantic nation is the Pakistan Cricket Board. People of both Pakistan and Bangladesh are passionate followers of the game and therefore the PCB holds the fifth position.

6. ECB (697k followers)

England and Wales Cricket Board are one of the oldest cricket boards which handle the Three Lions. The England Women’s Team recently won the World Cup 2017 but the men’s team has not been able to replicate their feat even though they won the T20 World Cup of 2009. They would start as hot favorites in the next edition of the World Cup. ECB holds the sixth place with 697k followers.

7. SLC (540k followers)

Sri Lankan Cricket is going through a rigid phase at the moment which activated especially post the day when the stalwarts like Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara, and Tillakaratne Dilshan decided to call it a day. SLC is placed 7th in the list with 540k followers.

8. NZC (352k followers)

One of the most efficient boards in World Cricket which has steadily produced world-class squads despite having a limited population and square field area is New Zealand Cricket. They are placed eight in the list with 352k followers.

9. WICB (227k followers)

From past couple of decades, West Indies have struggled to contend with the quality opposition in all the formats of the game on a consistent basis except the T20s. West Indies following on Twitter represents the deteriorating interest of Cricket in the Carribean island.

10. ZC (161k followers)

Zimbabwe Cricket is on a rise especially after recent attainment and return of their stalwarts. They are placed 10th on the list of most followed cricket board across the board.
