The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently looking forward to having neutral commentators for the bilateral series in order to cut down the impact of partiality.
Interestingly, BCCI is the only cricket board to focus on such a policy. It is not followed by any other broadcaster. The board has been exploring the services of neutral commentators in all the home series this year.
For the first two Tests against Sri Lanka, Simon Doull and Matthew Hayden were the neutral commentators along with Sanjay Manjerakar, VVS Laxman, and Russel Arnold in the commentary box.
Former English cricketer, Jonathon Trott was seen during the ODI series in the commentary box as a neutral commentator. Even the former South African captain Graeme Smith was roped in to join the commentary team roping in his expert comments ahead of the big series against the Proteas.
The BCCI will also be trying out the same in IPL as well. With a new decade in IPL starting from its upcoming season, the Indian board will rope in more commentators and use their voice to take IPL to all corners of the world.
