Ben Stokes return match to clash with hearing date

England all-rounder Ben Stokes is all set to return to International cricket after being suspended for four months following a brawl outside a nightclub in Bristol. His return will mark with the triangular series involving Australia and New Zealand apart from England.

However, his comeback may get pushed further as the date of the opening match is getting clashed with the day he has to be present in court for the hearing. According to British media, Avon and Somerset Police has announced the date of the hearing when the court will impose charges of affray on him. The date is February 13, the same day England will face New Zealand in a T20I match.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) lift the ban on Stokes yesterday stating that he is clear of all charges and will be available to play cricket with tri-nation T20I series to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The flamboyant all-rounder did physical harm to his a young man outside the nightclub, which damaged his eye socket. The incident took place on the eve of 24 September after the third One-Day International match between England and West Indies, which host won comfortably. Stokes along with opening batsman Alex Hales went to the bar and ended up being in the lock-up for that night. Following this incident, ECB axed both of them from the squad for remaining matches.

Afterwards, Stokes missed the prestigious Ashes tour Down Under, where his team missed him most and ended up slipping away the urn with a score line of 4-0. However, Hales was cleared from any charges and board named him in the ODI squad, which will play five-match series in Australia.
