Match 5 of IPL 2021 proved to be a run-fest between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Punjab eventually managed to get through with a win by four runs, it was Sanju Samson who lit up the firework in course of his brilliant hundred. His efforts though went in vain as he got out off the last ball trying to hit a six.

During the Rajasthan chase, an incident occurred which left the fans confused and surprised. On one of the deliveries, which Sanju faced, a mysterious blue layer was spotted sticking to the ball. It was especially visible during replays for a review call when Samson was ruled out by umpire Anil Chaudhary before the call was overturned.

The commentators also were left surprised as to what could be the reason behind that blue layer on the ball. They, however, tried to explain the reason behind it predicting that it could have probably hit a painted banner from which the color had got stuck on the ball during the course of six which was hit by Jos Buttler off the previous delivery. The ball must have touched the boundary rope or a painted banner just then.

Meanwhile, the game between PBKS and RR was a closely fought contest as both teams looked to start their IPL journey this edition on a positive note. Punjab batting first put a daunting total on 221 runs on the board with the help of some power hitting from Rahul, Hooda, and Gayle. Chasing the target Rajasthan had a poor start as they lost Ben stokes without disturbing the RR scoreboard. He was caught and bowled by Shami in the third delivery itself of the Rajasthan innings.

Sanju Samson, however, had other plans as he took the game deep, and at one time it looked that he would take RR to a resounding victory but he faltered off the last ball off the last over which was brilliantly bowled by Arshdeep Singh.
