Dhoni had taken a long break from international cricket last playing white-ball cricket for the Indian team in the semi-final against New Zealand of the World Cup back in 2019. People were excited to see the veteran Indian World-Cup winning captain back in action in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The fans will have to wait longer as the IPL has also been affected due to the pandemic spread of the Corona Virus.

An avid cricket fan asked the Australian legend about MS Dhoni’s chances at the ICC World Cup in Australia.

Hogg’s was quick to respond as he said , “Pending IPL performances, but sadly I think not, due to lack of international exposure lately & IPL he is playing the majority of games in Chennai (if it goes ahead) which is suited for spin not pace, the conditions he will get in Australia.”

Brad Hogg feels that MS Dhoni might be left out of the Indian squad for the World T 20 in Australia later this year because of his lack of current international exposure. He also feels Dhoni’s preparation would not be sufficient as he would be playing the majority of his game at a slow turning pitch of Chennai and face the fast bouncy tracks in Australia later on. Strong competition from players like Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul doesn’t make things easier for him.

Last week, Dhoni was back in the nets during Chennai Super Kings for practice sessions at Chepauk earlier in March as he practiced to get back in form before IPL begins. According to reports, Dhoni was and looking in good touch and also slammed a century during a practice match. Currently, MS Dhoni has left Chennai and flown back to his home town.

Due to the pandemic spread of the Corona Virus, the IPL has been rescheduled and postponed. Such measures were taken as a precautionary measure to avoid the mass gathering of people. Earlier scheduled to begin on 29th March, the 13th season of IPL is now rescheduled to begin on April 15 onwards.
