The season opener of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 was a fruitful one as they lost the toed game in a super-over. In a contest against Delhi Capitals at Dubai International Stadium, Punjab put up a great fight that leveled the score eventually. With help of Mayank Agarwal’s stunning knock of 89, KXIP came pretty close to win the match but they let it slip into super-over. In the super-over that followed, DC defeated the rivals easily.

Where Mayank Agarwal almost sailed te sinking ship of KXIP, it was Marcus Stoinis (53 off 21) for the Delhi team who became their hero. Stoinis not only bowled with a clam head in the final over as he scalped two essential wickets for his team. In the same game, West Indies’ Sheldon Cottrell marked his IPL debut, and the cap was presented to him by another Caribbean opener, Chris Gayle.

Cottrell has been roped in by the Punjab squad for a whopping INR 8.5 crore during the IPL 2020 auctions. Gayle, who is known for his unique antics found a different way of presenting the cap to Cottrell as he went on to imitate the pacer’s traditional ‘salute’ style. His gesture left everyone on the field including Cottrell in splits. Sheldon Cottrell conceded 24 runs in his four overs

Here is the video of the same:

In his debut match, Cottrell scalped wickets of all0rounder, Axar Patel, and experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Gayle, who wasn’t part of the first game for his team, showed great enthusiasm on the field while enjoying the team. He is equally popular for his dance moves on the field as he captures every chance to do so as he was recently seen shaking leg to a popular Bhojpuri number.
