Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar has been sacked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from its commentary panel. This news came after Mumbai Mirror reported that the BCCI was not happy with the commentator’s work behind the mic and also because of a couple of controversies that happened last year.
Manjrekar has been a regular commentator in every match of the Indian cricket team at home. It has been also reported that he might not be included in the commentary panel for the upcoming 13th edition of the IPL edition as well. The tournament is scheduled to begin on April 15.
The fans on Twitter had shown their elation at the news of Sanjay Manjrekar being ousted by BCCI from doing commentary any more. They were happy at not hearing his voice during matches anymore as he had been accused of being boring, biased and at times arrogant with his analysis.

Even IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided to take a dig at the commentator, bringing in his infamous ‘bits and pieces’ comment into their jibe. Sanjay had earlier termed the Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja a bits and pieces cricketer during the 2019 World Cup.
CSK’s tweet read: “Need not hear the audio feed in bits and pieces anymore”.

Sanjay was recently found himself in hot water after he arrogantly slammed renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle while discussing the visibility of the pink ball. The incident took place during the historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh, which was played in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Bhogle had mentioned that players who have participated in the pink ball matches must opine on whether it is easy to see the ball or not.

Manjrekar brushed him off with disdain saying that those who have played the game of cricket at the highest level, which Bhogle had not, have more knowledge. He later went on to apologize later for his outburst and unprofessionalism, but it seems all of this has led to his dismissal from the BCCI panel.
