After the second day’s game, the headlines were surrounding around Indian captain Virat Kohli’s double century. As expected, he reached yet another milestone double ton and took India into a commanding position. Amidst, the smoggy weather of Delhi shared the headlines of day 2 along with the local lad.

The day started with some glorious strokes by Rohit Sharma, who backed his century with a fifty in Delhi. Sharma fell at the stroke of lunch after scoring 65. The post-lunch session was, rather, dramatic as Sri Lankan pacers were constantly falling for breathing curtsy of polluted Delhi air. In the process, the game was stopped for 15 minutes before both Suranga Lakmal and Lahiru Gamage got off the field.

These sudden breaks brought Kohli’s departure after a record 243-run knock. Afterwards, Sri Lanka failed to manage 11 players for fielding, when their coaching staff started to get ready to take the field. However, Indian camp was not delighted with such behavior and Kohli declared the innings at 536/7.

When Sri Lankan batsmen stride out for batting, bowler Dilruwan Perera was partnering Dimuth Karunaratne to open the innings. Mohammad Shami was bowling in rhythm and dismissed Karunaratne for the first ball duck. Ishant Sharma, too, struck a wicked before tea in form of debutant Dhananjaya De Silva.

Sri Lanka dominated the last session of the day where former skipper Angelo Mathews formed a crucial partnership with his successor Dinesh Chandimal after a counter-attacking stand with Parera.

At the end, the visiting team reached stumps on day 2 while having 131/3. The last wicket fell to Jadeja and Mathews is looking solid at 57.
