Delhi Capitals’ (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal has expressed unhappiness over the Indian squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The selectors named the squad earlier this month and the cricketing fraternity seems unhappy with some of the selected players. Shikhar Dhawan, who captained the Men in Blue on the tour of Sri Lanka, failed to find a place in the squad.
Dhawan is also among the leading run-scorer in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League in the UAE. Not only has he scored runs, but got them at a healthy strike rate. Yuzvendra Chahal, who’s been one of the most consistent bowlers for India in the last four years, failed to make the cut as well. In his place, Rahul Chahar got an opportunity.

The selectors also decided to leave out Shreyas Iyer, who has been performing well in the T20Is and the Capitals, from the main squad. Jindal, in a few tweets, expressed his displeasure after a few players missed out.
DC co-owner took to Twitter and wrote, “The selectors must be wondering why they made some of the decisions they did – our T20 World Cup squad doesn’t have some of our best batsman – any guesses who? @DelhiCapitals @BCCI.” “India’s best spinner in T20 is missing too!! @BCCIdomestic @RCBTweets,” he further wrote.

Earlier, Chetan Sharma, the head of India’s selection panel, had explained the selections, he said, “Shikhar Dhawan is a very important player for us, he was the captain in Sri Lanka. What discussion happened I cannot disclose. He is important and he is there in the loop.

He further added, “But the need of the hour was that we look at other players and give Shikhar Dhawan some rest, otherwise he is an important player and he will be back very soon. We had a discussion over Yuzvendra Chahal and the selectors thought was we need a bowler, who can bowl fast.”
