Virat Kohli was felicitated by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday, January 31, following Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The DDCA honoured the cricketing legend for his remarkable achievement of playing 100 Test matches for India, a milestone he reached in March 2022 against Sri Lanka in Mohali.

Present at the ceremony to mark the Test milestone was the DDCA’s president, Rohan Jaitley, who gifted Kohli a shawl and a memento. Thus, Kohli becomes only the third player to have represented Delhi in Test cricket, after pace bowler Ishant Sharma played 105 matches and former opening batsman Virender Sehwag featured in 104 Tests.
See photos and video from the test milestone ceremony attended by Kohli, who would be seen touching the intricately designed memento, reflecting back on his travels in the format. The 36-year-old currently plays for Delhi in the seventh round of the Ranji Trophy against Railways, his first domestic red-ball appearance since November 2012.

His comeback has been witnessed by huge crowds, with 28,000 fans attending Arun Jaitley Stadium on Day 1 to watch him play. Similar excitement was also seen on Day 2; however, things took a rather sombre turn when Kohli was dismissed after scoring just six runs.

Pacer Himanshu Sangwan produced a dream delivery that jagged back in sharply, breaching Kohli’s defence and sending the off-stump cartwheeling. The packed stadium, which had erupted in anticipation of a Kohli masterclass, fell silent as fans started leaving in disappointment.
Delhi took full control of the game despite the early exit of Kohli thanks to a superb knock from skipper Ayush Badoni who was agonizingly short of a century with 99 runs and a gritty 78* from Sumit Mathur that helped Delhi secure a crucial lead of 93 runs at Stumps on Day 2.

Kohli will be looking to better his performance during the second leg of the test series before regaining his seat in the national team for their ODI engagements with England from February 6 in Nagpur. Fans should be looking out for him when he returns back to the stage in his accustomed manner.
