The 25-year-old Australian cricketer Kurtis Patterson has stunned the cricket world on his debutant international game after grabbing a stunning catch.
Australian cricketer Patterson made his international cricket debut during the day/night Test match against Sri Lanka at Brisbane which the hosts Australia won by an innings and 40 runs and has taken the 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series while the last Test is still to be played.

During Sri Lanka’s second innings of the Test match, when the visitors’ innings was at the very ending moment and Australia was very close to victory, Patterson grabbed that stunning catch.

It was the 45th over of that innings where the Sri Lankan tail-ender batsman Dilruwan Perera was dismissed for just 9 runs and Sri Lanka was eight down for just 110 runs. Australian pacer Pat Cummins delivered that ball which found an outside edge from Perera’s bat and travelled to the gully where flying Patterson grabbed that ball incredibly after he made a successful dive.

The visiting side Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss. However, they only managed to score 144 runs in the first innings of the game. Apart from the wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella, who played a great half-century knock of 64 runs off 78 balls, there was no other batsman to score 30 or more runs in that innings. Australian pacer Pat Cummins (4/39) picked up four wickets in that innings.

In reply, Australia scored 323 runs at the end of their first innings as they had the good first innings lead of 179 runs. Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head both played the important knocks of 81 and 84 runs respectively. Also, the opener Marcus Harris (44) and the debutant middle-order batsman Patterson (30) played some crucial knocks. Though the Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal (5/75) bagged five wickets, he didn’t get enough support.

Sri Lanka was once again bundled out for just 139 runs and lost the game by an innings and 40 runs. This time the highest scorer was the opener Lahiru Thirimanne (32) who was the only man to reach the 30-run mark in that innings. The Australian pacer Pat Cummins (6/23) claimed six wickets in that innings and achieved his maiden 10-wicket haul in the Test career.
