Director Kabir Khan has made a documentary series on the cricket team Chennai Super Kings(CSK) which is one of the most successful teams in the history of Indian Premier League. Kabir Khan is a well-known director in the Bollywood film industry and has also directed films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ek Tha Tiger, Phantom and many more superhits.
The title of the documentary series is “Roar of the Lion” and it is based on Chennai Super Kings comeback in the league after they were suspended for two years for their officials being involved in the spot-fixing scandal in IPL 2013 along with officials of Rajasthan Royals where 3 players of Royals were arrested for the same allegations.
In an interview with PTI, the director says the series is human exploration, one beyond the obvious, to show what the phase did to the people involved.
“We know all about the broad strokes, the legal side and the uproar. We don’t know what was happening to the individuals beyond those headlines. This is a story behind the headlines. Were these headlines affecting Dhoni? Of course, they were, but he never spoke about it, until now,” Kabir said.
