Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has picked his Playing XI for the 2019 ICC World Cup where he thinks the most problem the Indian team is trying to solve their No.4 batting position by trying with many experiments like after Yuvraj Singh they tried with Jadhav, Pandey, Rayudu, Dhoni, Kl Rahul, and many others but still they cannot find anyone who can be consistent in that position.

Majrekar suggests that Vijay Shankar should be given the spot in the World Cup stating “Vijay Shankar is my number 4 for his ability to hit sixes as well as rotate the strike. He also says India should play him as a batsman rather than giving him 7 overs or bowling full quota, he can bowl 3 overs. Manjrekar said to Times of India publication.

He was asked about playing Rayudu, to that he replied “After his 90 against New Zealand in Wellington, I was sure he had cemented his spot. But three low scores and the rise of Vijay Shankar thereafter have put his place in question”

About MS Dhoni’s batting position in the line-up, Majrekar said “Use him as a floater and Juggle his batting position based on the situation. Manjrekar described India’s situation as soft belly by adding “India is the best team in the World Cup but it doesn’t mean they are going to win it for sure, the middle-order is the weakness we are going to carry into the World Cup.”

Majrekar also feels that India’s current bowling attack is way better than the average bowling attack which won the 2011 World Cup and further said that it would be the first time when India would go for a major tournament with a better bowling unit than the batting unit.
