DJ Bravo Opens Up About His Transition from Player to Coach At CSK

DJ Bravo, a key figure in Chennai Super Kings’ successful journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has shared his joy and gratitude after the team secured their fifth IPL title. Following his retirement from the IPL in 2022, Bravo received a phone call from CSK captain MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming, inviting him to join the coaching staff.

Embracing the opportunity, Bravo expressed his unwavering commitment to his new career path in coaching. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Bravo conveyed his deep affection for the Chennai franchise and expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support of the fans, whom he called the “real champions.”

DJ Bravo also commended the young bowling unit of CSK, attributing their hard work and dedication as instrumental to the team’s triumph. Former West Indies teammate Kieron Pollard extended his congratulations to Bravo and the entire CSK side for their remarkable achievement. Fans, recognizing Bravo’s immense contributions, affectionately referred to him as a “champion coach.”

 

Having been a prominent figure in the IPL since its inception in 2008, Bravo initially played for Mumbai Indians before joining CSK in 2011. The versatile all-rounder quickly established himself as one of the league’s dominant players.

Throughout his tenure with CSK, Bravo secured IPL titles in 2011, 2018, and 2021. He retired as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker, with 183 wickets in 161 appearances, a record later surpassed by Yuzvendra Chahal. Bravo also clinched the prestigious Purple Cap twice in 2013 and 2015.
