After losing the first ODI of the three-match ODI series at Sydney on last Saturday (12 January), the Indian cricket team has to win now every game of this series as they can’t afford another defeat in this series. In the important second ODI of the series that is currently running at Adelaide Oval, the Indian skipper and team management have been trolled on Twitter for not selecting Kedar Jadhav.

For the Adelaide ODI, there was only one change in India’s playing XI and that was the right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj made his ODI debut as the replacement of the left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed.

The visiting side hugely felt the lack of the sixth bowler in the side after Australia decided to bat first. Indian bowlers provided a good start after dismissing both the Australian openers at a very quick time.

However, later, there had back-to-back four 50+ partnerships and the Indian bowlers failed to pick up regular wickets at the important time. Apart from the new-ball bowlers, the other Indian bowlers mostly remained ineffective in that innings and sometimes it seemed like that India badly needed the sixth-bowling option which Kedar Jadhav could provide in the better way.

Playing 48 ODIs in his career, Kedar Jadhav presently plays for the national side as a batting all-rounder who can provide the sixth-bowling option. In his 48 ODIs, the off-spinner Kedar bowled in 26 innings and he picked up 22 wickets with the bowling average of 29.59. His best bowling figure was 3/23 against Pakistan at Dubai (DSC) on 19 September 2018.

The visiting side missed their sixth bowler hugely as the hosts Australia scored 298/9 at the end of 50 overs. Shaun Marsh scored his seventh ODI century in a brilliant way as he scored 131 runs in 123 balls with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes. Also, Glenn Maxwell scored 48 off 37 balls in the middle stage that helped the host side to put a challenging total on the board.
