Though India team has been in a good position, the number 4 spot is still not yet fixed. Ambati Rayudu, who had failed to impress in the recently concluded ODI series, is, however, the first choice for the place. However, Hanuma Vihari who has played in the Tests for India is keen to make his place in the no. 4 spot in the One Day Internationals as well. Vihari; who will play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL has expected to be selected on the back of a strong IPL performance.
“I think I fit the bill (for the No. 4 spot). I’ve got the technique. You need someone at that No. 4 spot who has a good technique and can adapt to any situation. I think I’ve the skills and the game to succeed at that position,” Vihari said to TOI.
However, captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant both have tried their hand at no 4 position in the recently concluded Australia series. Vihari, on the other hand, has impressed with the bat in the Test already and will try to grab the place by performing well in the IPL. He has performed really well in the List A games for India A also.

“The challenge for me is to perform in the IPL first. Rest depends on what the team management and the selectors think. Even with India ‘A’, in the white-ball format, I’ve done quite well. I feel I can take my game to the next level and this year’s IPL will be a perfect platform,” Vihari said.
