India had a rough start for their preparations for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand with a three-day practice match against NZ-XI at Seddon Park in Hamilton. India batted first and the fragile top-order witnessed another collapsed as the opening contenders Mayank Agarwal [1], Prithvi Shaw [0] and Shubman Gill [0]- failing to counter the extra bounce.

The Indian team was found reeling at 5/3 which quickly became 39/4 after Ajinya Rahane was dismissed by all-rounder James Neesham. Rahane’s dismissal brought Hanuma Vihari to the crease and he continued his form and adjusted to the situation quite early and played a well-paced 101 before eventually retiring not-out.

Vihari’s innings not only served as a gift for Team India who were in trouble when he came in to bat, but it also served as the perfect Valentines Day gift for his wife Preethiraj. Hanuma Vihari took to Instagram where he posted the collage of his innings and captioned it as, “Hope you liked the gift! @preethirajy.”

The cricketer’s wife was also quick to respond to the message and conveyed to her husband that she loved the gift as he replied, ‘I loved it”.

Vihari was the leading run-scorer- 289 runs in 4 innings at 96.33- in his last Test series- against West Indies but he got no chance during the three-match Test series against South Africa after the first Test. Not the one to be unfazed by all this, Vihari is looking forward to playing whatever role that the team management wants him to perform in the upcoming Test.

Talking about the same, he said, “As a player, I am prepared to bat anywhere. As of now, I’ve not been informed anything. As I said before as well if the team requires me to bat wherever I am ready to bat.”
