Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was playing for Mumbai Indians for a decade but, in the IPL 2018, he won’t be playing in the blue jersey. Bhajji was with the Mumbai-based franchise since the inauguration of OPL before being released this year which completed a highly successful ten-year association between the player and the franchise.

One of the crucial cogs of Mumbai Indians for the first decade of IPL, the Indian turbanator played an integral role in their triumphs over the years. During his time with MI, Harbhajan saw his team winning three IPL titles and two now-defunct Champions League T20 titles. He also led the squad when it lifted its first Champions League title in 2011.

However, in the recently concluded IPL auction, MI team management decided to part ways with the World Cup-winning spinner, who now looks a pale shadow of his former self. Last year, he performed well below the expectations and also wasn’t included in playing XI on several occasions. Overall, he played 11 matches and managed to scalp just eight wickets with modest return with the bat.

Harbhajan will now instead ply his trade for two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after being bought at his base price of INR 2 Crores. This was only the second time the Punjab-born cricketer was in the auction as Mumbai Indians showed loyalty by retaining him on previous two occasions and the Super Kings did not let go the opportunity of signing up the star spinner.

Meanwhile, with his decade-long connection with Mumbai based franchise coming to an end, Harbhajan took to his Twitter handle to thank the team management and wished them luck for the upcoming season.

He tweeted, “Thank you @mipaltan for a wonderful & memorable 10 yrs…it was great playing for you…all the best going forward for IPL 2018.”
