Can we see India-Pakistan international cricket tie soon? Apart from the big tournaments (like ICC tournaments or Asia Cup tournament), India-Pakistan international bilateral cricket series has not been organised since early 2013.

According to a report, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria is hopeful about this. Saj Sadiq, the editor of Pak Passion, recently posted a message in his official Twitter account where he claimed that Ajay Bisaria quoted, “People from both countries want bilateral cricket to revive. People want to see India versus Pakistan, and I am hopeful of a contest on the cricket pitch as soon as tensions ease.”

The last time India and Pakistan have played bilateral series in early 2013. During that Pakistan tour of India, India had hosted 2 T20Is in December 2012 and also hosted 3 ODIs in December-January 2012/13. After that, they have never played a bilateral series despite having FTP schedule. The negative relations between the two neighbourhood nations’ governments have denied organising any bilateral series since 2013.

Since then, the two nations only meet in the big tournaments. The last time they have met each other in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final where Pakistan clinched that trophy very first time after beating Indian team by 180 runs. Earlier in that tournament, India had beat the Pakistan team in the Group Stage by 124 runs.

Their last T20I meeting was in March 2016, during the 2016 ICC World T20, where India claimed a victory by 6 wickets.

Meanwhile, their last Test meeting was in long December 2007 at Bengaluru, where the match resulted in a draw.

Recently, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi requested to invite the Indian cricketers in the future Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, he knows that Indian cricketers don’t play the foreign T20I leagues.

Afridi had quoted on that, “But we should at least try to invite them for the PSL. I know it is difficult that they will come as they only play in the Indian Premier League. But we should invite them for the next edition of the PSL.”

Since 2008, Indian cricket team has never travelled to Pakistan.
