While Delhi Daredevils (DD) had another disappointing season in IPL 2018 after finishing at the bottom-placed (eighth position) in the final points table, they trolled Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on last night after they were knocked out from the tournament.

KXIP knocked out from IPL 2018 after losing against CSK on Sunday night

On the Sunday evening, while the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) were knocked out from the tournament after suffering an 11-run defeat against DD at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi), KXIP had to win by a big margin against the hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (Pune) to book their spot for playoffs.

In that game, CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss. Despite the poor top-order batting collapse, KXIP managed to put the 153 runs (153 in 19.4 overs) on the board due to some good middle-order batting performances. It meant KXIP should restrict CSK for 100 or lower runs to qualify for the playoffs.

However, KXIP failed on their mission as CSK successfully chased down that target in 19.1 overs after losing 5 wickets. That defeat ended KXIP’s final hope to reach the playoffs as they finished at the seventh position with 12 points.

Earlier in this tournament, KXIP trolled DD after beating them in a low-scoring game at Delhi on April 23. When KXIP batsmen were struggling against the DD leg-spinner Amit Mishra in that game, DD tweeted, “Googly nahi samajh paa raha bhai koi!  Too good, @MishiAmit. Keeping it tight.”

However later, DD failed to pick up the KXIP spinners and lost the game by just 4 runs. KXIP trolled the Delhi franchise by showing the economy rates of the two spinners, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and wrote: “See you in #VIVOIPL2019”.

Now, DD trolled back the Punjab franchise by using the latest social media trend in India, ‘Ghar se nikalte hi, Kuch dur chalte hi’.

Before the April 23rd game, KXIP and DD had met once more in this season and that was on April 8 at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (Mohali) where KXIP had once again won by 6 wickets. In that game, KXIP opening batsman KL Rahul scored the fastest IPL half-century by completing his 50 runs off just 14 balls.
