During the 26th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Delhi, Delhi Daredevils beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs to win their second match of the season in seven matches so far.

After Dinesh Ksrthik won the toss put the home team in to bat, Delhi Daredevils scored a mammoth 219-4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings was powered by individual half-centuries from Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer.

In the second innings, Delhi Daredevils’ bowlers created havoc as the Knight Riders’ batsmen fell like pack of cards. As a result, their chances of sealing a 220-run chase were reduced to a great extent. Eventually, the Knight Riders ended up scoring 164-9 in 20 overs.

Now, we will look at the hits and flops players in this match.

Hits

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw (DD) – Prithvi Shaw, who came in to open the innings alongside Colin Munro, ended up scoring his maiden IPL half-century, 62 (44), with the help of seven fours and two sixes. For someone of his age to play an innings of such maturity and craft is worth the praise.

Iyer in action.

Shreyas Iyer (DD) – Shreyas Iyer had come in to bat at No. 3 after Munro was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the seventh over. He took his time initially, but once Shaw got out, he took the onus onto him and started playing the big shots. Iyer completed his half-century in the 17th over and raced to 93* within no time. Playing a captain’s knock, he ended up scoring 93* (40) with the help of three fours and 10 sixes.

Amit Mishra.aaaaaa

Amit Mishra (DD) – After facing the heat in the Daredevils’ first match of the season, Amit Mishra was dropped for the matches to come. Been included in the playing eleven since the last match, he has found his rhythm, which might come int handy for his team in the times to come. He registered bowling figures of 4-1-23-2, dismissing Dinesh Karthik and Shivam Mavi.

Flops

Shivam Mavi took the first wicket for his team.

Shivam Mavi (KKR) – The India U-19 speedster faced the flak tonight as he registered bowling figures of 4-0-58-1. Been introduced into the attack as the first change bowler, Mavi dismissed Colin Munro in only his second over. At this point in time, his figures were 2-0-11-1. Bowling in the death over, he conceded 47 runs in his last two overs.

Chris Lynn (KKR) – Kolkata Knight Riders tend to rely heavily on Chris Lynn. When the swashbuckling batsman doesn’t click (like today), their hopes go for s toss. Chasing a 220-run target, a brisk contribution from his side was a must for the visitors. However, he ended up scoring 5 (6) with the help of one four.

Robin
Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa (KKR) – Robin Uthappa would want to improve on his IPL numbers in this season. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, he failed to cope up with soaring pace and bounce from Trent Boult as he ended up scoring 1 (2).
