During the 36th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Daredevils by 7 wickets to climb past Chennai Super Kings as the table-toppers.

After Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat, Delhi Daredevils scored 163-5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. At one point in time, they looked set to cross the 180-run mark. However, the home team’s bowlers didn’t let that happen and restricted the Daredevils to an achievable target.

In the second innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a great start. Fall of wickets hindered their chase to some extent but they seemed never in danger in terms of not being able to chase the target. The fact that each of their top five batsmen contributed towards the win would have pleased the management. Eventually, they scored 164-3 in 19.5 overs.

Now, we will look at the hits and flops players in this match.

Hits

Prithvi Shaw.

Prithvi Shaw (DD) – In Glenn Maxwell, Shaw walked in with a new opening partner. Maxwell’s dismissal in the second over had no effect whatsoever on Shaw. He played his natural attacking game and ended up scoring his second IPL half-century, 65 (36), with the help of six fours and three sixes.

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan (SRH) – From picking up wickets of two crucial batsmen to bowling at a spectacular economy rate, Rashid Khan delivered another game-changing performance tonight. Adjourned as the ‘Man of the Match’, his bowling figures of 4-0-23-2 saw him dismissing Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant.

Mishra broke the 76-run opening stand.

Amit Mishra (DD) – Bringing in all his experience into play, Amit Mishra dismissed Alex Hales and Shikhar Dhawan in two overs to give his team an outside chance. Had he received apt support from the other end, the story of the match might have been different. He registered bowling figures of 4-0-19-2.

Flops

Maxwell was found short of the crease.

Glenn Maxwell (DD) – His dismissal might have happened in a hapless manner, Glenn Maxwell’s Too-lazy-to-get-back approach is to be blamed equally. Opening the batting with Prithvi Shaw, it was a great chance for him to stand tall on his reputation. That being said, he ended up scoring 2 (3).

Avesh Khan celebrates a wicket.

Avesh Khan (DD) – Opening the bowling alongside Trent Boult, Avesh Khan went for aplenty runs tonight. His second over, the last of the powerplay, went for 27 runs as Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales belted four sixes off him. He ended up with figures of 3-0-47-0.

Christian registered bowling figures of 3-0-35-2.

Daniel Christian (DD) – Brought into the playing eleven in place of Colin Munro, Daniel Christian was expensive to the extent of leaking 37 runs in 3.5 wicket-less overs. Seldom did a moment came when he seemed to cause any disturbance to the bowler.
