Just a couple of days after defending an incredibly low total of 118 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) proved once again why their bowling unit is one of the best in the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) as they successfully restricted Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) from overhauling their total of 132 runs on Thursday. KXIP co-owner Preity Zinta, who admitted being disappointed with the team’s unexpected loss against SRH, but promised that her team will be back better and stronger as the second half of the season begins.

The match saw 24-year-old KXIP pacer Ankit Rajpoot make history by claiming figures of 5/14. it was the best bowling figures for an uncapped player in the history of the IPL. The result hence enables them to climb up at the second spot in the league standings, level on points with first-placed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and third-placed Kings XI Punjab.

Kings XI skipper Ravichandran Ashwin admitted that his team should have put the game to bed since the nature of wicket wasn’t as difficult for the batters as his side made it look. “From where we were we should have really put this game away. It is disappointing. It was not the greatest of wickets and we succumbed to it. These losses can happen in this format and these sort of games do happen in IPL, we have to move on,” said Ashwin in the post-match presentation.

KXIP now have a 7-day break from the IPL and will next be in action against Mumbai Indians on Friday, May 04.
