During the 26th match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Delhi, Delhi Daredevils scored 219-4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Their innings were powered by individual half-centuries from two Mumbai boys – Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer.
After Dinesh Karthik won the toss and put the home team in to bat, Delhi Daredevils started their innings on a positive note, scoring 57-0 in the powerplay. Prithvi Shaw, who came in to open the innings alongside Colin Munro, ended up scoring his maiden IPL half-century, 62 (44), with the help of seven fours and two sixes. For someone of his age to play an innings of such maturity and craft is worth the praise.
On the other hand, Iyer had come in to bat at No. 3 after Munro was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the seventh over. Iyer took his time initially, but once Shaw got out, he took the onus onto him and started playing the big shots. Iyer completed his half-century in the 17th over and raced to 93* within no time. He ended up scoring 93* (40) with the help of three fours and 10 sixes.
Watch how Twitter reacted on Delhi Daredevils’ batting:
How times change. A few years ago a little Prithvi Shaw would have watched in awe as Mitch Johnson terrorised batsmen. Now, with the passage of time, he is hitting him on the rise over cover

Very good looking half century from young Prithvi Shaw, batch of 2018. Batting alongside Shreyas Iyer, batch of 2014.

Prithvi Shaw equals Sanju Samson's record (from 2013) of becoming the youngest to score a fifty in IPL. Both were 18 years & 169 days old when they achieved the feat. #DDvKKR #IPL2018
