IPL 2018: Vinay Kumar responds on his criticism; Irfan Pathan-Murali Karthik back him

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Vinay Kumar was hugely criticised after his failure to defend 17 runs in the last over against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai) on Tuesday night.

Chasing the 202 runs, CSK needed 17 runs in the last over while Vinay Kumar came to bowl his second over of the match. Earlier, he conceded 16 runs in his opening over when he bowled the first over of that innings.

Coming to the last over, his opening ball was a waist-high full toss which went for a huge six along with the no-ball that was hit by Dwayne Bravo. It resulted in a free-hit in the next ball where Bravo added 2 more runs. While at the beginning of the over CSK needed 17 runs in the 6 balls, now they required 8 runs off 5 balls.

Vinay conceded one more run to Bravo in the second legitimate delivery while his next ball conceded one another extra run as wide as bowling to Ravindra Jadeja.

Now the hosts needed 6 runs off 4 balls, while both batsmen picked up singles in the next two balls. While CSK needed 4 runs in the last two balls, Jadeja hit a sixer and finished the game before the last ball as CSK won by 5 wickets.

After the end of the match, Vinay was facing huge criticism from the fans.

Later, the 34-year-old right-arm pacer wrote on his Twitter account, “Hey guys take it easy, it’s just a game. Where were you all when I defended 9 runs against RCB and 10 runs against Mumbai Indians!! Sometimes things do go wrong so CHILL….”

Indian left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan and former Indian left-arm spinner Murali Karthik have shown support for Vinay Kumar through the Twitter accounts.

On the other hand, Murali Karthik also responded after a twitteri tried to troll Vinay Kumar. The former Indian left-arm spinner wrote, “Really sorry he is a very good and experienced bowler with skill.. Dale Steyn has gone for 25 runs twice and lost the game so is he the word u used..it happens my friend.. Don’t pls belittle ppl”
