CSK had won the toss and asked the Kings of Punjab to bat first where with the Gayle Storm coming up in his first match for Punjab scoring 63 off 33 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Punjab posted a big total of 197/7 and when CSK were chasing the score they required 36 off the last two overs with MS Dhoni in his best form standing and smashing Andrew Tye 19 runs off 5 balls after Jadeja’s dismissal in that over.
The final over asked CSK to make 17 runs and it was Mohit Sharma who was responsible to defend it for Punjab and Sharma bowled three dot deliveries to Dhoni in that over even after being hit for a boundary and a sixer on the last ball Punjab went on to win the match by 4 runs.
Sharma also got rid of the dangerous Shane Watson at the earlier stage of the innings. It was momentum for Mohit Sharma to defend against his former team.
